Intersec draws great response from safety and security community

MIDDLE EAST – The organiser of the three-day security, safety, fire and rescue event Intersec 2012 claims attendance was boosted by more national pavilions at the event, held at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre (DICEC).

The event, organised by Epoc Messe Frankfurt on 15-17 January, attracted 910 exhibitors from 52 countries displaying the latest trends and developments from the industry and showcasing more than 2,000 brands.

This year’s Intersec featured 13 country pavilions aimed to bring together small and medium-sized exhibitors from various countries to display their products and solutions for the Middle East.

General DL Berlijn, former chief of defence and commander-in-chief of the Dutch Armed Forces, helped organise the Dutch pavilion. “The Middle East is very important because it brings together players from all over the world,” he said. “The UAE has proven to be a place where people want to meet and Intersec has proven to be a platform for people to network so it is a good place to establish new contacts from all over the world.”

Messe Frankfurt is launching a new edition of its Intersec civilian security show in Mumbai next year following the show's continued success in the United Arab Emirates.

The show was accompanied by the Summit on Commercial Security, which addressed the growing concern from industry and corporates worldwide about the increasingly sophisticated methods of today’s criminals and the UAE International FireFit Championships showed elite fire and rescue personnel from around the regionparticipating in tests of strength and endurance.
