Reed buys European travel catering expo from ITCA

GERMANY - Reed Exhibitions has acquired the ITCA European travel catering exhibition from International Travel Catering Association (ITCA).
 
The event, which takes place in Hamburg on 27-29 March 2012, will be renamed World Travel Catering Expo and co-locate with Reed Exhibitions’ Aircraft Interiors Expo, an event that attracts senior buyers from 200 airlines.
 
World Travel Catering Expo will address the needs of food, beverage and amenity buyers across not just the airlines, but also rail and leisure sea travel operators.
 
Reed Exhibitions Divisional MD Justin Tadman said Reed has gained a reputation for its expertise in the travel and food industries.
 
“Acquiring the event from ITCA is strategically important and enables us to provide the travel catering industry with a quality event dedicated to their sector,” he said. “World Travel Catering Expo will focus on the needs of travel passengers’ in terms of comfort, menu and amenities.”
 
According to ITCA, the travel catering market is worth US$15bn and is growing at five per cent each year.
 
President of ITCA Stephen White added: “It makes absolute sense to co-locate the biggest European onboard service sector event with the world’s largest dedicated cabin interiors exhibition."
 
ITCA’s Dubai event and other member services will continue as normal.
 
Reed is in final stages of selling its share in UK-based food and hospitality specialist Fresh RM to Montgomery Worldwide for an undisclosed account.
