The Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair will be themed under the phrase ‘contrasts’, created by stylist Lotta Agaton

The exhibition, which will take place in February 2017, is a trade fair for purchasers of light and furniture to public and home environment, architects and designers.

The first Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair was organised in 1951. Since then the fair has grown into what is generally considered as one of the two top-notch furniture fairs in Europe.

Today the fair attracts around 40,000 visitors from 60 countries and over 1,100 media representatives every year, and around 700 companies exhibit their furniture, lighting and textile products.

The largest exhibitor nations, apart from Sweden, are Denmark, Finland and Norway, and usually around 80 per cent of all exhibitors come from Scandinavia.

Scandinavian design is a well-known and highly valued concept for design-interested people all over the world. The show runs parallel to Stockholm Design Week.

“Contrasts. That was the first thing to pop into my mind when I received the assignment. Contrasts in material, shiny vs. matt, expensive vs. inexpensive - and even contrasts in furniture. I want to offer unexpected combinations. I will also work on creating a ‘room’ atmosphere, a cozy feeling, in the exhibition’s spaces. It should almost feel like you are visiting someone’s home even though it is a public space,” explains stylist Lotta Agaton.

Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair will be held 7-11 February at Stockholmsmässan.
