UBM’s Gem & Jewellery India International Exhibition (GJIIE) 2016 has concluded on a bullish note.

The event, which launched the 1st edition of Tamil Nadu Retail Jewellers Awards, took place at the Chennai Trade Centre from October 7-9 2016.

Speaking on the completion of the 12th edition of GJIIE, Yogesh Mudras, managing director, UBM India said: “South India is the country's major consumer of gold and diamond jewellery and through GJIIE 2016, UBM India provided an international trading platform enabling jewellery, diamond, pearl and gemstone suppliers to congregate, interact and network with key buyers, both local and international in the Southern region.

“The overwhelming industry response further validates the industry need for such a large trade platform to tap the potential of South India’s market, for both exhibitors and visitors. The expo co-hosted with MJDMA, is the second largest jewellery expo in the country and is one of the four successful pan India jewellery shows, held annually by UBM India. This year, the expo saw a growth of 35 per cent with exhibitors from Mumbai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Delhi, Jaipur, Trissur, Coimbatore, Trivandrum, Madurai, amongst many others.”

The three-day expo is the second largest gems and jewellery B2B exhibition in India and had participation from more than 350 wholesalers, retailers, importers and exporters, jewellery manufacturers, diamond, gemstone, pearl suppliers and traders, precious metal and jewellery mounting traders and suppliers, and representatives from trade and governmental bodies.
