Singapore Exhibition & Convention Bureau is set to bring a ‘Europe-first’ Virtual Reality Room at IBTM World.

Singapore Exhibition & Convention Bureau (SECB) – a group of the Singapore Tourism Board – is to showcase the technological expertise of the city state by displaying a Virtual Reality Room at this year’s IBTM World.

It is believed to be the first time that a tourism board has displayed the technology at an event in Europe, and is its debut at IBTM World.

The VR room lets users to experience the technology without the need for a VR headset, allowing several people enjoy the experience at the same time. The VR room will feature the INSPIRE programme (In Singapore Incentive and Rewards) by bringing the cocktail experiences, group fairs and intriguing themed business tours it offers to life.

The VR room gives 360 degree rooftop views of the Singapore skyline and a fly-through of the business tour. This year’s theme for SECB’s installation is ‘City in a Garden’.

In addition, SECB will be joined at the event by other suppliers from Singapore including Asian Compass Travel, Fairmont Singapore/Swissotel The Stamford, Gardens by the Bay, Grand Hyatt Singapore, Marina Bay Sands, Meritus Hotels & Resorts, One Farrer Hotel & Spa, Raffles Hotel Singapore, Sentosa Meetings & Events Alliance, Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel, Singexpress Travel DMC and World Express Group.

The city state welcomed around 3 million BTMICE travellers in 2015, and pulled in over $4.5 billion in BTMICE tourism receipts.
