Germany's Imag to strengthen north African construction fair

Morocco - Messe München Group-owned organiser Imag, has expanded its portfolio of international construction exhibitions with a trade fair on public works and construction equipment, BTP Expo.

The trade fair will take place at the El Jadida Road Exhibition Park in Casablanca on 26-30 May 2010.  It is organised locally by the Fédération Nationale du Batiment et des Travaux Publics FNBTP and Medcom, in conjunction with the Ministry of Equipment and Transport and the Ministry of Housing, Urban Affairs and Town Planning.

The event was last held in 2008, with exhibitors including 250 companies from France, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, Greece and China. Around 50,000 visitors attended the fair, which according to Imag, has nearly doubled in size since its 2002 launch.

A spokesman for Imag said that the “consistent liberalisation” of the economy and extensive economic reforms have made Morocco an interesting investment and export market. “Its economy is expected to grow by approximately five per cent in 2009. In addition, step-by-step adoption of the EU's legal and social framework conditions is already having positive effects.

“It is creating an outstanding basis for admitting companies from the EU to the Moroccan market,” the spokesman added.

Imag’s exhibition portfolio includes more than 40 events in 20 countries, and the company has been associated with the Moroccan market and the trade fair centre in Casablanca since the early 1950s.
