Thirty Philippines-based brands will be joining the Ambiente 2023 trade show in Frankfurt, Germany from 3-7 February. The announcement came from the Philippines’ Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) export promotions arm – the Centre for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM).

In a statement on 3 January, CITEM stated that the DesignPhilippines brand will feature at the trade show, demonstrating home, fashion, and lifestyle (HFL) products across the country’s small, micro, and medium sectors (MSMEs), and artisan communities.

On the number of Filipino brands attending the trade show in Germany, CITEM executive director Edward Fereira said: "A mix of returning and neophyte exporters are set to make a mark on the international stage where our local designs can be appreciated by attendees from different parts of the globe.”

The exports promotions arm stated that 10 out of the 30 Filipino brands that will join the exhibit are from Tarlac: the country’s Partner Artisan Community.

CITEM added that the Philippine pavilion at Ambiente 2023 will continue the narrative of ‘hands at work’, which has been the pavilion’s theme since its participation in 2020.

“The theme is inspired by the fine workmanship and creative use of natural materials by the local communities that cultivate homegrown crafts,” CITEM added.

“The participating MSMEs have sustainability and social development in mind, and are given labour opportunities brought by the continuously strengthened export industry.”

According to CITEM, the country’s participation in the German trade fair aims to attract more European buyers for the Philippine HFL sector.

"The strong presence of our homegrown products empowers the Filipino craft and lets us cater to more markets, therefore allowing our MSMEs to have a wider reach,” Fereira explained.

Ambiente 2023 will be the exhibition’s first comeback show after a three-year break due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The show will return to its regular home of Messe Frankfurt.

With the theme ‘Moving the Future’, Ambiente 2023 is set to expect 4,700 exhibitors showcasing their global consumer products.
