Hong Kong Watch and Clock Fair reports 7% visitor rise

ASIA - The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) has reported a seven per cent increase in visitors year-on-year at the 32nd Hong Kong Watch and Clock Fair.

The organiser claimed a total of 18,828 visitors attended the show on 4-8 September at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC), up from 17,500 in 2012.

More than 755 companies exhibited at the timepiece event, spanning 34,766sqm of exhibition space, co-organised by the Federation of Hong Kong Watch Trades and Industries.

"Today's consumers are particularly discerning about watch brands," said HKTDC deputy executive director Benjamin Chau. "That means promoting brands will become a key part of development. The new Timepiece Extravaganza, an expanded version of Brand Name Gallery, was set up with this in mind, to attract more international exhibitors and buyers,” he said.

The new Timepiece Extravaganza features more than 140 brands divided into four thematic zones: World Brand Piazza, Chic & Trendy, Craft Treasure and Renaissance Moment. Other highlighted areas included the Small-Order Zone, offering more than 70 showcase units, the Pageant of Eternity, and the World Brand Piazza.

The Hong Kong International Watch Forum and the Asian Watch Conference were also held during the five-day fair.

The next HKTDC Hong Kong Watch and Clock Fair will be held on 3-7 September 2014 at the HKCEC.
