BIOtech success for Reed in Japan

ASIA - Reed Exhibitions Japan has claimed its recent biological and pharmaceutical show a success and the largest bio event in its history.

According to the organiser, 10,263 visitors attended the exhibition, held on 8-10 May at Tokyo Big Sight, Japan. The show saw a 20 per cent rise in exhibitors with 603 companies from 25 countries, up from 490 in 2012.

Reed said the number of overseas visitors doubled since the 2012 show.

"Due to the economic stagnation in Europe, more overseas biotech companies have chosen to exhibit at BIOtech 2013 Japan, setting their target to the Japanese market," said a Reed spokesman.

The show featured keynote sessions covering current topics including stem cells and also covered opportunities in the global life science industry.

The next edition of BIOtech Japan is scheduled to be held on 14-16 May 2014, returning to Toyko Big Sight.

In other news, the US arm of Reed lost its second outdoor show over a weapons ban.
