International visitors boost Messe Munich photonics technology show

EUROPE - Messe Munich saw a quarter more visitors to its Laser World of Photonics show, held this week.

According to the organiser, more than 26,000 trade visitors from 74 countries attended Laser World of Photonics 2013, with a record 1,136 companies exhibiting. The number of foreign visitors rose to a record level of 54 per cent, with more visitors from China, Russia and South Korea.

The trade show took place on 13-16 May alongside the World of Photonics Congress which began a day earlier than the exhibition at the Munich Trade Fair Centre.

“The 40th anniversary of the world’s leading trade fair has demonstrated that Messe Munich has firmly established its preeminence as a platform for the global photonics industry,” said Messe Munich MD Reinhard Pfeiffer. “This is also underpinned by the continuing increase in the internationality of the visitors.”

The Indian edition is next in the Laser series, scheduled to take place at the Bombay Convention and Exhibition Centre (BCEC) in November.

Last month, Messe Munich reported a record Bauma event.
