Deutsche Messe attracts 90,000 to Ligna

EUROPE - The organiser of Ligna 2013 has claimed that more than 90,000 visitors attended the event.

Deutsche Messe said 1,637 exhibitors from 46 countries filled the 124,000sqm exhibition area from 6 to 10 May in Hannover, Germany.

“All the pieces were in place; outstanding exhibitors, high-calibre trade visitors, an abundance of innovations and outstanding international turnout on the part of exhibitors and visitors alike,” said Deutsche Messe board member Jochen Köckler. “This event has resoundingly reaffirmed its status as the world’s foremost trade fair for the forestry and wood industries and extended its lead on the competition."

The organiser said the revamped site layout featured a more compact treatment of topics in the halls, highlighting this will be used in the future as “both exhibitors and visitors welcomed the shorter walking distances.”

The EXPO canopy and pavilion buildings focused on sustainable forestry and forest technology, covering topics such as high-speed data flows along with a wide range of applications for convertible forestry vehicles.

Earlier this month, Deutsche Messe confirmed its launch of seven shows in five countries, growing its event portfolio.
