UBM expands SATTE portfolio into Indonesia

ASIA – UBM has partnered with Southeast Asian professional conference organiser RajaMICE to launch an Indonesian edition of its SATTE travel and tourist brand.

UBM acquired SATTE’s Indian travel event in 2011 on behalf of its UBM Asia business. The trade exhibition and conference has been running in India for the past 20 years and attracted 6,249 qualified buyers and sellers last year.

The new Indonesian edition will be held in Bali from 12 to 14 June 2013 and will focus on the inbound, outbound and domestic markets in Indonesia as well as the broader Southeast Asian market. An exhibition, business-to-business sessions and networking activities will be on offer.

UBM hopes to bring together 300 sellers and 250 qualified buyers from a range of leisure brands globally including corporations, travel agencies, resort and hotel chains, cruise operators, convention planners, venue operators and travel buyers.

UBM highlighted Bali’s accessibility and connections with major international cities, along with its infrastructure and reputation with tourists, as key reasons for the launch.

“The growth of Indonesia’s economic importance in the Southeast Asian region and around the world means there are huge opportunities for both inbound and outbound travel and tourism operators and suppliers,” UBM Asia senior vice-president Christopher Eve said.

“On the inbound side, Indonesia’s rich diversity of exquisite tourism offerings, as well as its rapidly increasing business travel, off huge potential. Meanwhile, Indonesia’s vast population and burgeoning middle classes mean that there are enormous opportunities for outbound and domestic travel.”

Country manager for meetings and events planning agency Pacific World Indonesia welcomed news of the event and its contribution to Bali’s travel trade. He pointed out Bali is expected to have more rooms and better infrastructure in place next year including its new airport.

“By bringing SATTE to Indonesia in 2013, we hope to support the government introducing the world to Indonesia and Indonesia to the world,” RajaMICE CEO Panca R Sarungu added.
