Expoforum and Messe Dusseldorf partnership to be built on medicine and gas

EUROPE – The board of directors at ZAO ExpoForum in St Petersburg has signed agreements making medicine and gas the core sectors in cooperation with Germany’s Messe Düsseldorf.

ZAO ExpoForum board chairwoman Natalia Konovalenko and Messe Düsseldorf board chairman Werner Dornscheidt signed an agreement in the presence of the St Petersburg vice-governor Olga Kazanskaya to cooperate on developing congress and exhibition projects in St Petersburg.

Heading the bill for new events is one of the world's largest exhibitions of medical industry and health services, Medica, in the St. Petersburg International Health Forum, being organised for the first time by ZAO ExpoForum in 2013.

According to Kazanskaya, it’s no coincidence that the cooperation began with a medical event.

“This partnership reflects the social orientation of government policies both in St Petersburg and throughout Russia,”  she said. “After all, a well-developed medicine is a guarantee of the population’s wellness.”

Dornscheidt expressed his confidence in the ability of Russian experts to organise high-level projects.

"Since the 1990s we have organised a number of exhibitions jointly with OAO Lenexpo, so we are absolutely sure of the competence of Russian specialists,” he said.

The parties also agreed that the St Petersburg International Gas Forum, another ExpoForum event, will be expanded with Messe Düsseldorf’s exhibition projects. And in addition to the development of other joint events, Messe Düsseldorf will also provide the ExpoForum with consulting services for the ongoing development at the Convention and Exhibition Centre site.

“The signing of the agreement was preceded by long-term preparations, and we are glad that finally all our efforts have resulted in a mutually beneficial partnership,” said Konovalenko. “Having set a lot of significant tasks important for the city, we’re looking forward to implementing them in new projects.”
