Moscow Vnukovo airport gets new venue

EUROPE - The management of Expocentr Krasnaya Presnya in Moscow has announced a new venue to be built on the outskirts of the city near Vnukovo airport.

The Vnukovo Expo Center, on a 257-acre plot, will have 249,000sqm of space. It will be built in two phases, with the first phase comprising of about 120,000sqm of covered hall space set to be operational by late 2014.

The plan also includes a congress hall for 10,000 people in the design of a Roman Colosseum, and a multifunctional hall of 5,000sqm.

The congress hall will be the largest of its kind in Moscow, Expocentr Krasnaya Presnya claimed. The new venue has been designed by the leading German architect Gmp Gerkan, Mark and Partner.

The centrally-located Expocentr Krasnaya Presnya is also being extended to 165,000sqm. Annually, the facility hosts about 100 trade fairs with more than 30,000 exhibitors.

Messe Frankfurt and Messe Düsseldorf will jointly organise an annual event for Russia’s sanitation, heating and air-conditioning technology sectors at the venue in April.
