New bioenergy event launches in Italy

ITALY - A new bioenergy exhibition, a cooperative effort between CremonaFiere and DLG which, has taken place in Italy.

The three-day-long exhibition
Bioenergy Italy, 18-20 March, drew 12,000 visitors from seven countries, a community that includes farms, municipalities and food production executives with an interest in renewable and ethical energy production.

Visitors discussed photovoltaics, geothermal energy, solar energy, and energy from wood and the by-products of the food industry.

“Since 2008, the Italian bioenergy market has experienced a rapid positive growth” said director general of DLG International Bernd Koch. “It is a fast growing market characterised by important investments and comparable to the German market in 2004.

As well as the exhibition, attendees were able to take part in meetings and technical workshops for people interested in the bioenergy production business.

“This was the first important step to turn Bioenergy Italy into a reference event for the whole Mediterranean area,” added Koch.

Alternative energy events have become big business in recent years, with demonstrators increasingly targeting promoters of conventional energy at events such as the World Energy Congress (pictured).

The fourth edition of the World Future Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi saw a six per cent rise in visitor attendance this year.
