Wine event celebrates highest ever attendance

WORLD – International wine and spirits event Vinexpo Asia-Pacific closed its doors yesterday following three ‘record-breaking’ days.

The event attracted over 12,000 visitors, 40 per cent up on the last edition. Over 880 exhibitors attended, representing 32 countries.

"Our decision to host the show in Hong Kong this year was the right one," says CEO of Vinexpo Asia-Pacific, Robert Beynat. "The region is consuming wine four times faster than the world average and also accounts for 50.6 per cent of total world spirit consumption."

The event also hosted 42 conferences, seminars and master classes over the three days.

"These were created due to requests from the industry. Our visitors desired the opportunity to get face-to-face with global wine specialists, which we delivered. Some programmes even had to turn people away as they reached full capacity," says chairman, Dominique Heriard Dubreuil.

The next Vinexpo will take place in Bordeaux, France in June 2011.
