AMR International welcomes rankings debate

AMR International's Diana Gineva welcomes the recent debate on ranking metrics in EW's first issue of 2017.

At AMR we’re delighted that our industry-first Top 20 exhibition organiser ranking has initiated discussion amongst industry stakeholders, spurring both agreement and constructive feedback. It’s great to see that our approach is already leading some integrated businesses to look at these numbers in a new way for the first time.

Differences in organiser structures and show cyclicality contribute to the complexity of the industry and there exist many different measures of ‘size’. We believe that it is useful to compare organising-only revenues. In December of course, no organiser had released 2016 revenues, and there had also been major acquisition activity in the year, so the best measure was 2015 revenues + acquisitions in the year.

We will publish our Top 20 ranking every six months. Our next ranking will be published in June 2017 and will feature full 2016 revenue figures (organic and acquisitions) for all organisers as these will have been made available by then. Expect changes due to biennial effects.

Issue 2 of EW (out late March) will include a comment piece detailing AMR International's opinion on the exhibition company ranking debate.
