A consortium – consisting of Max Bögl, Züblin and Cofely – will be responsible for building Messe Frankfurt’s Hall 12.

Named the ‘ARGE consortium’, the organisation will plan the build, which is scheduled to commence at the beginning of August.

Uwe Behm, member of the executive board of Messe Frankfurt, said: “We are very happy to be building our new trade fair hall on the western section of our exhibition grounds with these three companies. The underground work already began eight weeks ago with the excavation of the building pit by the Implenia/Weimer consortium. Prior to this, large milling machines had been used to remove the asphalt from the former open space and to prepare the building site.”

The building pit already gives an indication of the floor space of the two-storey hall, designed by architectural firm Kadawittfeldarchitektut.

It will be approximately 248 metres long, 118 metres wide and approximately 30 metres high. Exhibition space will be around 33,600sqm in total.

Uwe Behm: “Hall 12 will be a state-of-the-art, highly flexible hall with a transparent construction that will make it easier for visitors to find their way around. In the foyers, large glass surfaces and sightlines between the levels are designed to ensure better orientation.”

When the building opens for Automechanika 2018, it will be the largest hall in the western section of the exhibition grounds. This not only completes the expansion of the western section for the time being but also means that the Via Mobile moving walkway, for which the connection to Hall 12 is already being put in place at Hall 8, will make a complete circuit of the grounds.
