Sergey Trofimov, presidium member of the Russian Union of Exhibitions and Fairs (RUEF) and president of RESTEC, has passed away.
Trofimov, who died on 27 January, was a highly respected representative of the Russian exhibition industry, leading RESTEC, which is a member of both RUEF and UFI.
Trofimov was an elected member of the UFI Board of Directors.
A statement by the association praised his tireless work: “We have received condolences from many UFI member companies around the world, all expressing their high appreciation of Sergey’s achievements. We spent many years side by side with Sergey; these were years of collaboration and mutual support. Sergey’s passing is a huge loss to us, his friends and coworkers."
Trofimov’s achievements include contributing to the development of the Russian and global exhibition industry, and helping draft regulations that play a key role in exhibition industry today.
He also founded the Europe-Asia Event Forum, a platform for experience and knowledge exchange and matchmaking.
