AIME partners with PCMA for education sessions

Australia’s Asia-Pacific Incentives and Meetings Expo (AIME) is partnering with the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) to provide the education sessions at AIME 2016, which takes place at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, 23-24 February.

Karen Bolinger, CEO of Melbourne Convention Bureau, which owns AIME, said: “We listened to feedback of 2015 hosted buyers who were keen to explore education opportunities, but were kept busy with site inspections and exhibitor appointments. Hosted buyers will enjoy a dedicated education programme the day prior to AIME.”

Sherrif Karamat, chief operating officer at PCMA, will give the opening keynote presentation.

Karamat, said: “We are excited to deliver an education programme tailored to the needs of AIME’s hosted buyers. Event planners will learn how industry experts are interpreting economic changes, and Australian and international speakers will design solutions specifically for the business community.”

Applications to be a hosted buyer at AIME 2016 are invited from those responsible for managing, organising or influencing business events, business travel, conferences, meetings, exhibitions or incentives, from Australia and around the world.

Meanwhile, the Darwin Convention Centre is using reality technology to give its clients a 360-degree panoramic experience of its facilities and surroundings without them having to board a plane.

Clients at the Northern Territory ‘Conventions Walkabout 2015’ Roadshow have been testing the latest Samsung Gear VR, a mobile reality headset by Samsung Electronics in collaboration with Oculus VR, to fully experience the centre as if they were there.

Janet Hamilton, general manager of the Darwin Convention Centre, said: “These new virtual reality tools enable us to engage, inspire and share the beauty of the world-class Darwin Convention Centre.”
