A new sustainable partnership has been agreed between venue RAI Amsterdam, and the environmental organisation Natuur & Milieu.

The signing took place on 22 October as part of the InnovationLAB platform at the BedrijfsautoRAI exhibition (road transport and logistic services) at the centre.

RAI MD Hans Bakker initialled the agreement with Tjerk Wagenaar, director of Natuur & Milieu.

RAI Amsterdam and Natuur & Milieu anticipate the partnership will develop initiatives for event content and help visitors and exhibitors at RAI events to make fun and easy sustainable choices.

Bakker said: “We recently concluded 10 years of partnership between our Dutch exhibitions and the Emma Children’s Hospital AMC with the festive opening of the hospital’s new children’s restaurant. We’re happy to say that our careful search for a new good cause has been successful. Several of our exhibition titles have already worked in the past with Natuur & Milieu and this new agreement generates a more structured form of co-operation. We will go a step further than simply raising money and are now looking for initiatives that will have added value for both parties.”

Natuur & Milieu is also pleased with the partnership. “The sustainable ambitions of RAI Amsterdam ensure a perfect match for our organisation,” says Wagenaar. “We aim to provide a fresh contribution to the events on the exhibition agenda over the coming years.”

On 23 October, Natuur & Milieu organised a session on zero-emission urban logistics at BedrijfsautoRAI, where companies, government authorities and students were able to present their innovative vision, projects and services in the field of inner city transport.

Natuur & Milieu and RAI Amsterdam are also working with AMREF Flying Doctors on international events.

RAI Amsterdam has also pulished a sustainability report under the GRI B (Global Reporting Initiative) guidelines.
