Organisers of Expo 2020 Dubai have launched a series of workshops to highlight procurement and business opportunities available for the six-month event.

Director general of the bureau Dubai Expo 2020 Reem Ibrahim Al Hashimy opened the first BusinessConnect workshop yesterday (1 September).

“Dubai and the UAE are already home for many hundreds of enterprises,” Al Hashimy said. “Expo will provide opportunities for these businesses, and for many others of all sizes and from all nations, to work with us towards our objectives on opportunity, mobility and sustainability - themes of our expo."

The workshops are part of an engagement programme expo organisers started with national, regional and international businesses in April this year.

“Expo and its legacy will help inspire, promote, engage and encourage our youth,” Al Hashimy added.

“We want to use expo's power to convene partners which can work with us to empower young people - the leaders of tomorrow - and in so doing continue to build a sustainable future for all.”

The inaugural workshop was also used to emphasise the expo’s commitment to open and transparent procurement.

Expo 2020 Dubai’s e-sourcing portal was the entry point for businesses wishing to work with Expo 2020, the first place business opportunities would be posted and the only means to respond to tenders, a statement said.

Expo 2020 Dubai is expected to attract 25 million visitors between 20 October 2020 to 10 April 2021.
