AEM construction show visitor increase reflects industry optimism

AMERICAS - The Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) said this year's co-located CONEXPO-CON/AGG and IFPE 2014 have maintained a growing international scope with more than 129,000 visitors in attendance.

In total, the triennial events attracted 129,364 contractors, dealers and distributors, service providers, engineers, producers, and municipalities, up from 120,000 at the 2011 construction expo. International registrations totalled more than 31,000, up nine per cent from the previous event.

Held at the Las Vegas Convention Center on 4-8 March, the organiser said both shows set new records for exhibit space and number of exhibitors, with more than 2,400 exhibitors showcasing new products and technologies from the construction industry including asphalt, aggregates, concrete, earthmoving, lifting, mining, and utilities.

“The enthusiasm and traffic on the show floor was just incredible,” said CONEXPO-CON/AGG show director Megan Tanel. “Exhibitors cited the high quality of attendees; they told us these were serious buyers and reported robust sales to existing as well as new customers that exceeded their expectations.

The organiser said both shows set new records for exhibit space and number of exhibitors, CONEXPO-CON/AGG with more than 220,000 net sqm of exhibit space and more than 2,000 exhibitors, and IFPE with more than 14,957 net sqm and 400 exhibitors.

Melissa Magestro, IFPE show director commented: “CONEXPO-CON/AGG and IFPE 2014 reflected the feeling of momentum building in the industry. We are industry-run shows with industry needs put first; these show numbers are a testament to the value attendees, exhibitors, and other stakeholders derive from their participation.”

The CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2014 education program featured 120 sessions over 10 targeted tracks.

Limited Space Events partnered with AEM to present its new Event TV concept, a bespoke digital TV channel personalised to AEM for the shows.
