Spintelligent pleased with mining expo visitor attendance

AFRICA - Spintelligent has claimed the number of visitors to this year’s mining exhibition and conference has more than doubled.

The iPAD DRC Mining and Infrastructure Indaba expo was held on 9-11 October at the Hotel Fleuve Congo in Kinshasa and attracted more than 450 participants from 23 countries.

The event is an annual conference and exhibition dedicated to opportunities in the mining sector in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), with a focus on critical fiscal and legal issues now affecting extraction, exploration and industrial development.

More than 500 visitors attended the Katanga Mining Briefing held at Grand Karavia in Lubumbashi, on 15-17 October.

“These are the only two international platforms for the DRC, drawing together the whole mining industry and stakeholders from the value chain,” said show director Nicole Smith. "DRC is currently transforming its mining code, business regulation and climate, these platforms are crucial to the government and private sector. These are the think tanks which issues can be addressed in order to find and share solutions.

“This year, we basically hosted double the amount of participants. Lubumbashi’s outdoor exhibition turned out to be the highlight of the event, together with visits to mining sites Tenke Fungurume. Kinshasa’s conference was of a high level content and we received excellent feedback from both audience and speakers,” added Smith.

The 10th iPAD DRC Mining and Infrastructure Indaba will return to Kinshasa on 21-23 October 2014, and the fifth Katanga Mining Briefing will be held on 28-30 October 2014.
