KLCC marks the breaking of the Ramadan fast with local children

ASIA - Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) invited local children into the centre to decorate cupcakes with its culinary team and mark the breaking of the Ramadan fast.

Eighty children from Living HOPE and Persatuan Kebajikan Generasi Gemilang (PKGG) met the culinary team led by pastry chef, Jamaluddin Zainal Abidin, who gave an ‘express cupcake decorating course’.

True to this year’s theme ‘A Ramadan feast with traditional and contemporary cuisine’, the children were treated to a sumptuous buka puasa (breaking fast) spread with an international menu that included spicy Harissa Lamb, authentic Nasi Padang,Indonesian Oxtail Soup, Arabic-style minced meat kebab on pita bread, roasted fish Tikka, Italian pasta as well as a wide selection of local favourites.

Dr Peggy Wong, founder and chairman of Living HOPE, said it was "heartening" to see corporates such as the Centre make an effort to reach out to the underprivileged. “We thank the Centre for their continuing generosity and support of Living HOPE, and for inviting us to their buka puasa buffet. It was a delicious treat for everyone.”

Ms Noelle Tan, chief operating officer from Persatuan Kebajikan Generasi Gemilang, said many of the children had never had the opportunity to visit the Centre or experience five-star cuisine.

“We are glad that this partnership has provided the children from the community a memorable experience of celebrating the joy of Ramadan. The cupcake decorating session itself was a child-focused activity to celebrate how special each child is.”

KLCC deputy general manager, Alan Pryor and his management team handed out goody bags containing cookies and sweets courtesy from the culinary team, and duit raya to their young guests.
