Tourism expo ATF Travex returns to Laos for second time

ASIA - South East Asian country Laos is to host the next installment of tourism exhibition ATF Travex in Vientiane from 22 to 24 January 2013.

ATF Travex 2013 is a three-day travel trade show organised by TTG Asia. It is a component of the ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF), a showcase for the largest contingent of ASEAN destination products and services, which runs from 17 to 24 January 2013.

This will be the second time that the event, which takes place at the Laos International Trade Exhibition and Convention Centre (ITECC), has been held in the Laos capital. Vientiane, situated on the Mekong River, is the economic centre of Laos and celebrated for its ecotourism, Buddhist culture and food.

“This is an exciting time for Laos’ tourism industry and we are honoured to host ATF 2013,” said professor Bosengkham Vongdara, Laos’ minister of information, culture and tourism.

“Since we last hosted ATF nine years ago, Laos has grown in infrastructure and facilities. Through ATF, we will do our best to contribute to strengthen and build an ASEAN community by 2015, as adopted and promoted at ASEAN summits by the region’s leaders.”

The event will also feature the ASEAN Tourism Conference (ATC), an educational component of ATF, featuring sessions by industry veterans on the major trends and issues affecting tourism in the ASEAN region.

This year's event was held in Manado, Indonesia, and followed the 2011 event in Cambodia.
