Expo Center Sharjah taps into plastics market

MIDDLE EAST - Expo Centre Sharjah is rolling out a new plastics production trade fair capitalising on the region’s abundance of hydrocarbon resources.

Plastivision Arabia aims to take advantage of the fast-growing market, bringing an international crowd to the exhibition and conference alongside ArabiaMold on 14-17 May 2012. Both events will be produced in association with the All India Plastics Manufacturers Association and Germany’s DEMAT, with support from the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The event is being positioned as a comprehensive and cost-effective platform for raw material producers, primary processing and auxiliary equipment suppliers and traders, with more than 100 exhibitors expected to attend. A green technology zone and seminars and workshops on bioplastics will also feature at the event.

Director-general of Expo Centre Sharjah, Saif Mohammed Al Midfa, said: "The UAE and the rest of the oil-producing countries have embarked on a massive drive to diversity their economies and this has resulted in the manufacturing sectorreceiving more attention while drawing up strategic economic policies and investment plans.

“The plastics industry is a direct beneficiary of this drive, and, coupled with our natural edge in petrochemicals, the sector is set to grow rapidly."
