Messe Nuremburg launches Mexican pet expo

MEXICO - The US subsidiary of Messe Nuremburg is launching a pet expo in Guadalajara, Mexico, in summer next year.

The Mexico Pet Expo and Conference will take place on 27-29 June, 2012, in Mexico’s second most populous city. A business-to-business trade show and conference, Messe Nuremburg North America believes it will be the first show for the Mexican pet industry following the success of Pet South America by Messe Nuremburg Brasil in São Paulo.

Mexico Pet Expo 2012 is expected to attract more than 150 exhibitors and 5,000 buyers of pet products, and Messe Nuremburg hopes to establish a new business arena for domestic and international companies interested in the Mexican pet industry. The event will be directed by industry insider and president of the Pet Business Association Mexico, Antonio Figueroa.

Messe Nuremburg believes Mexico’s urbanisation, a result of the country’s high GDP growth rate (estimated at around four per cent in 2012) means citizens are choosing to live in smaller homes, increasing the importance of pet products that promote health, grooming, and indoor living.

“The Mexican pet industry has sought to host an event that best represents the positive state of this market and its future growth potential,” said Messe Nuremburg North America CEO and MD Dirk Ebener. “We believe Mexico Pet Expo will provide the necessary business platform for businesses to continue the positive growth trend while allowing them to build and strengthen relationships with new and existing pet product buyers through vital face-to-face meetings.”

Figueroa added: “As a retired veterinarian, I am excited to help launch the first industry show and conference to promote the exchange of ideas and encourage innovation to enhance the overall quality of pet products and services currently offered in the Mexican market.”

Belgian organiser EasyFairs recently announced it was looking at partnerships in Mexico for 2012.
