Canadian defense association launches second security show

CANADA – The Canadian Association of Defence and Security Industries (CADSI) has announced a new security event following its defense show Cansec 2011 in Ottawa.

The SecureTech Conference and Tradeshow will take place from 25 to 27 October at the new Ottawa Convention Centre, and will highlight the defense industries of Canada, the UK and the USA.

The event’s conference element will run from 25 to 26 October, overlapping with the exhibition which runs from 26 to 27 of that month.

The show aims to attract companies with technologies, products and services related to cyber security, critical infrastructure, disaster management and emergency planning, identity and access management, air transportation security and maritime security.

Cansec, which ran on 1 and 2 June at the Canadian capital city’s Lansdowne Park, gave an estimated 8,000 visitors the chance to see the latest weapons and military technologies from 225 exhibitors.

Objecting to the show, a group of protestors gathered and played dead on Parliament Hill, representing the casualties of war. Other protestors rallied peacefully outside the show grounds.

Last year Cansec signed a memorandum of understanding with its UK counterpart ADS.
