Evans to leave Brand Events and set up own enterprise

UK - Brand Events chief operating officer Andrew Evans is leaving the company in August 2011 to set up his own events business.

Evans, who was director of Fresh RM before moving to Brand Events at the end of 2007, worked alongside the board of directors to build a business that runs 30 annual events, with turnover increasing from £6m to £30m during his tenure.

Brand Events has offices in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Italy, Ireland, the Netherlands and the UK.

“I’ve had a fabulous time working with Chris Hughes and the team over the past few years and learnt more than I ever imagined,” said Evans. “With 25 years solid experience in the B2B and consumer markets both here in the UK and overseas, I believe the time is ripe for me to explore new opportunities and plan to set up my own events business.”

Evans claimed he is in early discussions with prospective partners “who for understandable reasons must remain confidential at this stage”.

Over the past 12 months Evans led the reorganisation of Brand Events’ global structure, which now sees the company established in eight countries with 10 operating businesses.

In the UK he oversaw the launch of both the award winning Golf Live and the successful Taste of Christmas event at Excel London.

Commenting on his departure, Brand Events CEO Chris Hughes said: “Andrew has been invaluable in helping us develop the company and helping it to grow up; he leaves us much stronger going forward.

“He is a terrific manager, a good friend and someone who we hope to be able to work with in the future”.
