Sri Lanka puts heritage on display at Ayurveda Expo 2011

SRI LANKA - The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL) has teamed up with several ministerial bodies for a new wellness expo.

The NCCSL is launching Ayurveda Expo 2011 at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) in Colombo on 15-17 July, an international exhibition and symposium on the nature-friendly treatment system Ayurveda.

Working with the Ministries of Indigenous Medicine, Economic Development, Industry and Commerce and External Affairs and Sri Lanka Export Development Board, Sri Lanka Tourism, Gem & Jewellery Authority and Sri Lankan Airlines, NCCSL’s new event focuses on healthfood, wellness, yoga and meditation.

Ayurveda, yoga, meditation and other alternative treatments are extensively used by Sri Lankans, and have developed a strong reputation in many parts of the world.

“We have invited delegations from all over the world to participate at Ayurveda Expo 2011 to enable them to see for themselves the benefits of Ayurveda for human life,” said Asoka Hettigoda, chairman of the Ayurveda Expo 2011 organising committee and president of the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka.

“Visitors will also have the opportunity to have business tie-ups with Ayurveda products manufacturing organisations and Ayurveda related service providers which include health tourism and health related food and beverages.”
