The 2022 International Travel Show reveals programme

The International Travel Show (ITS), a trade show for the business and leisure travel industry, has revealed its programme themed ‘The Future of Travel.’ The show will take place from 28 – 30 October 2022 in New York.

The 2022 show is the successor of The New York Times Travel Show, last held in 2020, and will include content covering critical changes in technology, sustainability, and responsible tourism that are important to the industry’s future success.

ITS will open to the trade only on day one, and to the public on days two and three. The two public days will showcase attending destinations, travel companies, cruise lines, hotels, resorts, and other travel-related products and services.

Exploring pavillions

Hosted at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, travel industry businesses and DMCs will be exhibiting, including Tourism Malaysia, The British Virgin Islands, Royal Caribbean International, Wonderful Indonesia, Jamaica Tourist Board, Greater Miami, Palace Resorts and Le Blanc Spa Resorts, The Travel Corporation, Cayman Islands and Viking Cruises.

Show presentations are also part of the programme. These will include:

  • The Tastes of the World Theatre and Pavilion is presented by Doug Duda, host of The Well-Seasoned Traveler.
  • The LGBTQ+ Pavilion, where tourism brands will demonstrate their trip-planning, experiences and packages.
  • The annual charity auction of the Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association Education Foundation, where attendees may bid on Caribbean hotel vacations with proceeds going to fund scholarships and training for Caribbean hospitality industry professionals.
  • Three Cultural Stages on the show floor, with exhibiting countries presenting cultural performances.

Announced content

Trade Day will feature four Conference Tracks – Cruise, Destinations, Hotels & Resorts, and Tours. This will include 22 trade-only conference sessions and keynote presentations, which will cover travel trends relating to consumer sentiment and product development.

A lineup of travel executives and thought leaders is to be announced, who will speak on travel recovery, travel innovation, and responsible travel. The latter covers the safety, welfare, and survival of travel destinations and the communities served by tourism.

Attending panellists will hail from the travel agency, cruise, hotel and resort, tour, and destination sectors. Announced speakers here include tourism minister Edmund Bartlett of Jamaica, Pierfrancesco Vago, executive chairman of MSC Cruises, airline consumer advocate Bill McGee, and travel personality Pauline Frommer.

A Keynote Panel Session on ‘How Top Travel Experts See Travel in 2023’ will be available on the public days, along with multiple sessions covering the essentials of travel planning.

Sessions include:

  • The Cruise Track: ‘How to Experience the Hottest New Expedition Cruises’ and ‘Cruising Like a Traveler and Not Like a Tourist’
  • The Meet the Experts Track: ‘The Hottest and Most Affordable Destinations’ and ‘Where the Influencers Go’
  • The Traveling Better Track: ‘How to Choose the Right Insurance’ and ‘How to Plan the Perfect Honeymoon and Destination Wedding’
  • The Destinations Track: ‘How to Find the Perfect Trip to Italy” and ‘Planning a Successful Sustainable and Responsible Travel Trip’
  • The Resorts Track: ‘What to Look for in a Luxury Resort’ and ‘How to Pick the Perfect All-Inclusive Trip’
  • The Resources Track: ‘The Best Travel Gear and Gadgets of 2022/23’
