Swapcard publishes ‘The Business of Virtual Events’ report

Online event platform Swapcard has published a new report, ‘The Business of Virtual Events’, to mark Global Meetings Industry Day.

The guide provides detailed advice and key takeaways on how to monetise virtual events, taking in topics such as the event lifecycle, sponsorships and exhibitor management.

The results are taken from an analysis of virtual events that took place on the Swapcard platform in 2020. These comprised 461 virtual events between April and December 2020, with 51,843 total exhibitors and 1,608,060 total attendees.

Some of the findings in the report include that pre-event is the best time for lead generation during virtual events, and that 80% of time spent on the Swapcard platform was dedicated to watching sessions. This suggests content trumps business networking for virtual events.

The report provides tips on monetising sessions, and also on how to make virtual booths and event schedules stand out.
