New director for Messukeskus in Helsinki

Marcus Bergström (pictured) has been appointed as the new director and member of the Executive Board at Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre. He will start his new position leading the Messukeskus Events & Congresses business unit on 26 February, 2024.

Bergström has long worked in sales positions at Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre (brand name Messukeskus) and has extensive experience in the event business. He will transfer to his new position from the Exhibitions business area, where he has worked during the past years as business manager of public and professional events produced by Messukeskus.

Bergström previously worked as head of Finnish Fair Corporation’s and Stockholmsmässan’s joint venture Adforum Ab, which organised international fairs for the forest industry in Finland, Sweden and Asia.

As director of the Messukeskus Events & Congresses business unit, Bergström’s area of responsibility will include meetings, congresses, banquets and guest events organised at the Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre. In addition, he will be responsible for the Centre’s hotel and restaurant operations, which Messukeskus operates together with its partners Scandic and Noho Partners.

Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre is the leading event organiser in Finland and provider of exhibition, meeting and congress facilities.

Guest events such as Slush, Nordic Business Forum, Assembly, the Finnish Kennel Club’s Dog Fair and numerous international congresses and business events every year are organised at Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre. The facilities include seven halls, 40 convertible meeting rooms, 21 restaurants and an own event hotel.

The turnover of Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre in 2022 was €46m and the economic impact on its surroundings was €128m.
