Messe Frankfurt and Inexmoda licensed to launch Heimtextil Colombia in April

Global trade fair and event organiser Messe Frankfurt has licensed the Heimtextil brand to Inexmoda, a private non-profit institute based in Colombia and owner of key textile and fashion trade shows in Latin America: Colombiatex of the Americas and Colombiamoda, Colombia´s Fashion Week.

Messe Frankfurt and Inexmoda will open doors to Heimtextil Colombia in South America, 26-28 April 2022, featuring interior textiles, interior design and interior trends, and the biggest international trade fair for home and contract textiles for the Americas.

Olaf Schmidt (pictured), vice-president Textiles & Textile Technologies, Messe Frankfurt, told EW: “With Heimtextil Colombia we are expanding our trade fair portfolio towards a region that is currently developing very well in terms of tourism and hospitality and thus offers great chances for the interior textiles business. With Inexmoda we are happy to have a strong partner at our side who organises very successfully trade fairs in the Latin American fashion segment.”

Medellin, one of the most important cities in Colombia and one with a growing reputation for innovation, will be the host of Heimtextil Colombia. Organisers say they expect to receive 110 exhibitors from around the world and professional buyers from the Americas.

Messe Frankfurt and Inexmoda had originally announced, during the 50th anniversary of the Frankfurt edition in January 2020, that they wanted to launch Heimtextil Colombia and now, finally, the licensing agreement has been agreed.

Heimtextil is the biggest international trade fair for home and contract textiles held in Frankfurt, Germany. With its new products and trends, it kicks off the season and gives important impulses to both exhibiting companies as professional visitors and decision makers from all over the world.

Messe Frankfurt has created a network of textile related trade fairs around the world including in Russia (Heimtextil Russia), Shanghai (Intertextile Shanghai), New York (Home and Textile Sourcing) and Tokyo (Interior Lifestyle Tokyo).

Messe Frankfurt operates around 150 trade shows per year, while Inexmoda has 34 years of experience in developing textile and fashion trade shows in Latin America. The institute has also developed high scale consultancy projects alongside Latin-American companies and governments in search for the competitiveness of the textile and fashion industry in the region. Carlos Botero, the CEO of Inexmoda said: “The licence agreement between Messe Frankfurt and Inexmoda to bring Heimtextil into the Latin American market will be a major breakthrough for the home, decoration and hospitality industry, since these categories are being driven by the increase in new constructions, rise in tourism and the growing hospitality business in Latin America”.
