IEG’s HBG Events flexes its muscles in Dubai

The organising team at Italy’s IEG group played a key role in ensuring 47,000 spectators (via live streaming on YouTube) and contestants from 43 nations attended the largest bodybuilding competition ever organised in the UAE.

The Dubai Muscle Classic 13-14 February 2021 at Dubai World Trade Centre saw 500 competitors step on stage and go head-to-head to win USD$20,000. The event was organised for the first time by HBG Events, an Italian Exhibition Group (IEG) company, in partnership with the Dubai Sports Council and Emirates Bodybuilding Federation (EBBF). IEG is a leading global organiser of expo events in the Wellness, Sport & Leisure sectors.

Corrado Peraboni, CEO of IEG said: “This was an excellent debut, using our company expertise”.
It is estimated that in the countries of the Co-operation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC) the health and fitness sector is worth approximately USD$1.4bn.

The growth of the fitness sector in the GCC led IEG to expand into the Arab Emirates with last year’s acquisition of the Emirati organiser HBG Events.

The two days of Dubai Muscle Classic, promoted by ProSupps and ProTan, featured male and female contestant competing in the various specialities. The event was staged in total compliance with all the health protocols.
