UK venue ExCeL London is claiming a robotic first for the UK as it introduces another option for more sustainable events.
‘Lionel’, a floor marking robot (named so because it marks out lines of course!), showed off its abilities at the recent Event Tech Live 2022 show at ExCeL London.
A fast and efficient event space mark-up could also lead to significant reduction in single-use carpets and the London venue is also set on long-term collaboration with August Robotics as part of a wider sustainability commitment.
According to a recent report by SASIE, it is estimated that as much as six million tonnes of carpet are thrown away each year by the UK event industry.
