Galaxy Arena and GICC to launch in Macau for 2021

Macau-based Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) this week officially introduced its Galaxy International Convention Center (GICC) and Galaxy Arena projects, set to open in the first half of 2021.

Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) is an integrated resort, hospitality and entertainment group. GICC and Galaxy Arena will form an integrated MICE destination.

Dr Lui Che Woo, Chairman of Galaxy Entertainment Group, said the new facilities would attract new visitors and complement the Macau Government’s vision of “diversifying the economy and developing Macau into a world centre of tourism and leisure”.

Macau is a special administrative region of China (SAR) and an UNESCO World Heritage Site with more than 20 historical locations and a rich cultural and gastronomic heritage for visitors to explore.

Macau is now connected by the recently-opened Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge, the world’s longest sea-crossing that now connects the SAR with the region’s Greater Bay Area.

Macau is also connected by direct flights to major cities in Greater China and over 200 cities worldwide via three major international airports, including Macau International Airport, Hong Kong International Airport and Zhuhai International Airport with over 94m passengers and approximately 600,000 aircrafts movements in 2018.

The GICC will also connect with the integrated resort Galaxy Macau™, and with Macau’s largest collection of luxury hotel brands all under one roof – The Ritz-Carlton, Macau, Banyan Tree Macau, JW Marriott Hotel Macau, Hotel Okura Macau, Galaxy Hotel™ and Broadway Hotel.

Guests can access to 1.1m sqm. of entertainment, shopping and leisure attractions, including 120 dining options at Galaxy Macau.

The GICC will offer total event space of 40,000sqm, including a 10,000sqm pillar-less Exhibition Hall for tradeshows; an Auditorium seating 650 guests; aBanquet Hall seating 2,400 guests; a 4,000sqm Conference Hall consisting of three partitionable spaces, and a Ballroom catering for over 1,000 guests.

The 16,000-seat Galaxy Arena, meanwhile, will be able to host world-tour concerts and large-scale sporting events.
