Coinciding with International Women’s Day, dmg events has signed the UN's Women Empowerment Principles (WEPs), after participating in SNC-Lavalin’s Middle East Diversity & Inclusion business network event, “Empowering Women in Construction”.

The event was also attended by Alice Laugher, a member of the Steering Committee for the UN Global Compact local network in the UAE and chair of the UN WEPs taskforce for the region.

dmg events’ flagship construction exhibition, The Big 5, launched its Women in Construction Seminar & Awards series in Dubai last year. Tasked with evolving a traditionally male dominated industry, the promotion of equal opportunities for women has been a natural inclusion into the show’s ongoing activities.

The initiative has been geo-adapted across construction exhibitions in Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Kenya, and after a huge success will return to Dubai in 2019.

Geoff Dickinson, CEO of dmg events commented: “A gender-balanced workplace is a business issue and essential for a thriving business and economy. We are honoured to make this commitment of pushing for gender equality within our company and the industries we operate in.”
