Global events company Montgomery has announced the launch of a brand new Design and Build division, appointing FIT Show event director Nickie West to head it up.

West will spearhead a portfolio which includes FIT Show, W Exhibition and Montgomery’s 50% of Surface Design Show. Part of her remit as Managing Director will be to grow the business through expansion and acquisition, increasing Montgomery’s offering within the home improvement, built environment and materials sectors.

Montgomery purchased 80% of FIT Show in January 2017, taking West as part of the deal to continue as Event Director. Reporting directly to Montgomery MD Damion Angus, West will keep the existing show teams in place to ensure consistency and retain knowledge.

West’s appointment as MD for Montgomery Design and Build will allow the group to benefit from her extensive expertise within this sector, amassed over her 20-year career. The role also sees her return to the place her career started, having originally worked for Montgomery.

Speaking about the appointment, Montgomery’s Group Managing Director Damion Angus said: “We’re excited to announce not only the launch of our new Montgomery Design and Build division, but the appointment of Nickie West as Managing Director. We’ve worked closely with Nickie since acquiring FIT Show and it was very clear to us that she would be the perfect fit to not only lead our existing brands, but help us to grow our offering within the built environment space.

“It’s an exciting time for the group and we’re very much looking forward to adding to our portfolio in the future.”

Throughout her career, West has picked up a number of accolades including the 2018 Exhibition News Award for ‘Best Trade Show Marketing Campaign’ for FIT Show. Speaking about her new role as MD, Nickie West said: “I’m delighted to have been given the opportunity to lead Montgomery’s brand new Design and Build division.

“There is already a large amount of synergy between the current brands. It makes complete sense to maximise the benefits of a shared audience, creating one portfolio for events within the home improvements, built environment and materials sector.

“There is no better vehicle than live events when it comes to showcasing what your brand is all about, engaging with customers and prospects in a live and interactive environment. I’m excited to lead and grow this division in my new role as MD.”
