The Malaysia International Trade & Exhibition Centre (MITEC) has announced a new five-year agreement with UBM Malaysia.

The Memorandum of Understanding which is established between UBM Malaysia and MITEC will see the venue hosting four of UBM’s events from 2019 to 2023, and a biennial event from 2019 to 2028.

The signing ceremony took place in MITEC, and saw Gunther Beissel, CEO of MITEC, joined by senior vice president of UBM Malaysia M Gandhi, CEO of Informa Stephen Carter, chairman of PGSB Tan Sri Abdul Rahman Mamat, and chairman of Malaysia Exhibition Services Asmat Kamaludin.

Beissel expressed, “We are very pleased and honoured to be the venue of choice for UBM’s business events exhibitions. It is a great achievement for a venue that is just a year into business.

“This agreement showcases that MITEC is not just a venue provider but a long-term business partner who creates opportunities for continuous growth and stakeholders’ sustainability.

“This fruitful partnership is estimated to generate RM261.2 million economic impact, which I believe represents both brands’ firm commitment in setting benchmarks for Malaysia’s business events industry”.

Since the venue opened in August 2017, MITEC has housed about 90 events and accommodated major regional and international exhibitions with an increase of 110% in booth stands size.

It recorded a foot traffic of 352,148 visitors, indicating its capability to cater to large exhibitions and international events.
