Tasmania’s business event visitor numbers have set new records with its latest figures for 2015 revealing its strongest growth ever.

The Tasmanian Visitor Survey, released today by Tourism Tasmania, confirmed that in the year ending December 2015, there was increase in the number of business event visitors to the state with 40,800 visitors (up 42 per cent), compared to 28,800 business event visitors in 2014.

“This is a great result for the Tasmanian business event sector,” said Stuart Nettlefold, CEO, Business Events Tasmania.

“Today’s figures reinforce the strong appeal of Tasmania as a business events destination. The results confirm Business Events Tasmania’s data which highlighted a stand out period for conference and business event activity in 2015, particularly in the last quarter.

“In September last year, Hobart hosted a high number of large national and international business events, including the 2015 Baker’s Delight National Conference, the Society of Economic Geologists International Conference 2015 and the 2015 Population Health Conference.

Meanwhile, Nettefold said The Bakers Delight 2015 Conference was arguably the biggest corporate event to ever be held in Tasmania, with over 1,200 delegates attending plus partners.
