Debut success for luxury interior design expo

DEBUT SUCCESS FOR LUXURY INTERIOR DESIGN EXPO

EUROPE - Clarion Events' new interiors show aimed at high-net-worth homeowners, House, has been hailed a success after it debuted at Olympia London last week (17-20 June).

The organiser credited the show with a 15 per cent boost in attendance for co-located shows the Spirit of Summer Fair (17-20 June) and the Olympia International Fine Art & Antiques Fair (18-20 June). The three events attracted 19,000 visitors over four days.

Clarion Events fair director, Stuart Hunter, said Olympia London’s architectural features made it the ideal location to celebrate interior design. "The beautiful backdrop of the barrel-vaulted roof and connecting spaces allow people to explore what each show has to offer, from Spirit and House in Olympia Grand through to the Fine Art and Antiques Fair in Olympia National,” Hunter said.

He added that market research showed an inspiring interiors event would resonate with high-net-worth visitors.

“There was also a clear gap in the market for an event that focuses purely on quality design and style for the home.

“We’ve been very pleased with the reception it has got; a lot of good business has been done and visitors are clearly enjoying themselves,” Hunter said.

Show highlights included the House theatre, where experts hosted talks on trends in design and decoration.

Meanwhile, a Georgian house replica, dressed by April Russell Studio, created a focal point for visitors. The elegant home feature living spaces designed and curated by the leading New York- and London-based studio.

House is Clarion’s second co-located event to launch at Olympia London this year.

In January, the company launched Craft, a contemporary craft and design show, alongside interiors show’s Top Drawer and Home.
