AEG Ogden wins the rights to manage new Perth arena

AUSTRALIA - International venue management company, AEG Ogden, has welcomed the Western Australian Government’s decision to appoint the group as the preferred tenderer to operate the new Perth Arena.

AEG Ogden currently manages some of the world’s most iconic convention and entertainment centres including the Stapes Centre at LA Live, London’s 02 Arena, the Qatar National Convention Centre in Doha (currently under construction), the Acer Arena at Sydney Olympic Park and the Brisbane, Cairns, Darwin and Kuala Lumpur Convention Centres.

“We have already commenced discussions with some of the established Australian and international promoters of major concert, sports and other entertainment events and we look forward to revealing an exciting range of events at the Perth Arena as its opening date draws closer," says chairman and CEO of the Arena, Harvey Lister.

The Perth Arena is currently being built on the site of the former carpark for the now defunct Perth Entertainment Centre and is due to be completed in mid-2012. With a capacity of 12,000 for sporting events and 14,000 for concerts, the project will be a “jewel in the crown of the city's premier entertainment precinct”, it is claimed.

The company currently holds the management rights to the Western Australian venues the Perth Theatre Trust Venues, which includes His Majesty’s Theatre and the Perth Concert Hall.

AEG Ogden is a joint venture between the Australian-based Ogden IFC and the Anschutz Entertainment Group of the US.
