Robots to help Shanghai Expo visitors

SHANGHAI - A team of multi-lingual robots will help visitors to the Shanghai World Expo.

The robots, modelled after the blue Expo mascot Haibao, have touch-screens on their chests and built-in digital cameras. A team of 37 of them will be spread around each of the city’s two international airports and at the entrances to major venues.

The 1.55m-tall robots will ‘communicate’ with visitors in six languages, take photos for them, and provide information on roads, transport and Expo locations.
