AUCTION SITE ENABLES ORGANISERS TO TRADE BRANDS ONLINE

Workforce RESIZED

EUROPE – An online platform that enables organisers and owners of patents and trademarks to auction their products and product rights has been officially launched by a new London firm.

IPR Connections claims it has created the first comprehensive global trading site for owners of exhibition brands, as well as other intellectual property, trade marks, designs, domain names and new products.

According to IPR Connections founder and exhibitions industry veteran Roger Shashoua, the company was formed around the need to bridge the gap between patentee and industry. Shashoua first entered the patent market in 1972.

“This will fundamentally assist how inventors, companies, research institutes and other holders of IP, or their attorneys and agents, assign, license, sell and acquire IP rights worldwide,” he said.

The new company will provide a direct route for organisers and other corporations, as well as developers of new products and other holders of patents and trademarks, to connect through licenses with partners worldwide. This means organisers can sell their brands into other geographic regions where they can be picked up by local businesses and developed under caveats (quality guarantees etc) agreed with the seller.

According to Shashoua, by 2020 approximately £1.3 trillion will be spent on new technology, patents, new products and processes, which he called the “life blood” of corporate growth and development.

“Companies worldwide are now seeking to monetise their patent portfolio as part of their corporate plans and funding, “ said Shashoua. “These activities provide a fertile market for registration and offers for sale or license through IPR Connections.”

The auction site will be supported by the first online IPR Connection Patent Conference and Expo, where companies can exhibit their trademarked brands, patents and services, and discuss the latest developments with selected patent buyers and investors from the USA, Europe and beyond.

The development or the Internet and web-based tools an processes has, stressed Shashoua, enabled the functions of IP application and registration and the transfer of information to be conducted electronically so that the kinds of service envisaged 40 years ago can now be provided securely with automated administration.
