EUROPE – St Petersburg venue and organiser Expoforum has become a member of the Russian Union of Exhibitions and Fairs (RUEF).

ExpoForum executive director Sergey Voronkov presented the construction project of the new convention and exhibition centre in St Petersburg at an RUEF general meeting in Nizhny Novgorod, as part of a bid to make ExpoForum JSC a member of the professional association.

Expoforum recently acquired the Lenexpo JSC exhibition portfolio and Voronkov emphasised that this, coupled with the construction project, will “open a new page in the history of St Petersburg's exhibition business”.

RUEF president Sergey Alexeev, who was Lenexpo general director until 19 December, assumes the position of ExpoForum vice-president and will supervise communications with professional associations as well as international co-operation. Voronkov became general director of Lenexpo on 19 December.

The 20-year-old RUEF brings together national exhibition organisers, owners of exhibition complexes and enterprises in order to promote the exhibition business in Russia, and currently comprises 29 exhibition centres with a total indoor exhibition area of over 550,000sqm.
