Prague Congress Centre (PCC) recently hosted its first completely sustainable event, at which more than 60% of waste was saved.

The event was organised by Byznys Pro Spolecnost in cooperation with Zatisi Catering and the PCC.The scene, decorations and refreshments were made in accordance with a zero-waste policy, and were handmade from natural, reusable or recyclable materials. Branding was displayed on LED screens, eliminating the use of a lot of paper.

Catering was delivered in the same spirit, using local, fresh products and served in biodegreadable containers. Each delegate received one dining set, and remaining food was offered to the PCC community fridge to avoid being wasted. PCC also made us of water dispensers instead of packaged water.

PCC CEO Roman Ray Straub commented: “The opportunity to host responsible companies has been a great occasion for the PCC to show that even congresses, conferences and corporate events can be organised with respect to the environment.”

PCC’s location, easily accessible by public transport, also helped cut down on travel miles. The building itself, meanwhile, has greatly reduced its water and CO2 consumption following a large reconstruction project in 2016-17.
