Hosted buyers attending the Asia Pacific Incentives & Meetings Expo (AIME) will experience a taste of Melbourne’s history at Uncover Melbourne: Hosted Buyer and Media Cocktail Evening. Presented by Showtime Event Group, the event takes place at Old Melbourne Gaol on 18 February.
The event will be the launch platform for Showtime Event Group (SEG), the new brand for the group, which will also encompass the external catering arm of the business; a new offering from SEG.
The event is part of Melbourne Convention Bureau’s (MCB) AIME programme, Uncover Melbourne. Designed to showcase Melbourne’s business events capability, Uncover Melbourne offers international and local hosted buyers the opportunity to get under the cover of Melbourne’s business events attributes.
Karen Bolinger, MCB CEO, said it’s important for MCB to form strategic partnerships with event innovators such as SEG. “Melbourne is renowned as the events capital of Australia and MCB plays an important role in demonstrating this to the business events sector,” said Bolinger.
Brad Dabbs, SEG general manager, said that the business events sector has driven the growth of the business.
“We identified nearly seven years ago that the biggest growth opportunity for our business was in the business events sector, and we developed a 10-year strategy to leverage this insight.
“What started as Showtime Event Centre at South Wharf has grown to incorporate Cargo Hall and the entire South Wharf precinct, and now our vision has grown to become a major player in the event catering landscape, building a portfolio of venues with a difference to cater into, such as Old Melbourne Gaol.”
SEG was appointed by the National Trust Australia (Victoria) as the exclusive caterer of Old Melbourne Gaol and Old Magistrates Court, and the Uncover Melbourne: Hosted Buyer and Media Cocktail Evening will be its first event as the exclusive venue caterers.
