Updated figures from the Government show Christchurch’s new convention centre will cost about AUS$475m.

Christchurch Regeneration Minister Nicky Wagner released the information, which shows that just over half the amount is made up of the $240m construction contract for the project, awarded recently to CPB Contractors Ltd.

Other costs include $74m for the land, acquired from private owners under special rebuild powers, $4m on remediating the earthquake-damaged site, and $34m on professional services. These costs have already been met.
